    At the International Soccer Club (ISC), we strive for a coaching development pathway that both encompasses and aligns with Canada Soccer and Ontario Soccer. Canada Soccer has developed the Canada Soccer Pathway (LTCD) and tailored the Coach Education Program to this Model. ISC is committed to Train develop and promote its coaching staff according to the LTCD pathway of Ontario Soccer. ISC focuses on the following two main elements according to its Strategic plan, Operation Plan and the Club Technical Plan

  • Fund & Promote Higher Level Coach Certifications.
  • ISC spends over $35,000/year in coach training and development.

ISC adopts Ontario Soccer commitment to develop and train its coaches. Whether you’re a parent wanting to Coach, a player exploring other opportunities to be involved in the game, or a soccer professional wanting to advance your career, we have courses and resources for you. All course registration is done online on Ontario Soccer website. In addition to coaching courses, Ontario Soccer puts on the annual Ontario Soccer Summit, expanded from the yearly Coaching Conference, to bring the best minds from across the world to Ontario. Ontario Soccer offers the following courses:

*Make Ethical Decisions, Making Headway in Soccer, Respect in Soccer, Emergency Action Plan and Understanding the Rule of Two are required for the above courses.”

Hire

  • Ads are put out on in Multiple Databases, e.g. Indeed, Ontario Soccer.
  • Groups interviewing to go over expectations.
  • Selected candidates are then invited to attend our Competitive training program as observers and assist the existing Coaching staff if necessary.
  • Feedback is collected from ISC coaching staff on punctuality, level of commitment, quality of soft skills and level of interest in the Job with all candidates.
  • ISC invites the selected candidates to attend the last and final stage of selection by attending the orientation Training.

Train

  • Selected candidates shall attend ISC orientation training with hard copies of Respect in Sport and Police Checks.
  • ISC Orientation training is 4 days over 2 consecutive weekends from 10:00AM to 3:00PM
  • Orientation training
  • Monthly Coach to Coach sessions (involving the Technical Director running classroom and field sessions)
  • Library for lectures and training sessions
  • Constant help in cycles and practice creation.

Evaluate

  • Regular ongoing onsite feedback and input throughout the season
  • Regular onsite group coach meeting to go over feedback and room for improvement
  • End of season Evaluations

Develop

  • Once a coach is hired if they have little experience we move them into an Assistant coach roll. Pairing the coach with a more experienced coach.
  • Once evaluated there is a determination to move them forward to become head coaches.
  • Coaches are working progressively in 5 v 5 to 7 v 7 and than to 9 v 9. (One Season per group)
  • Coaches are monitored through their progression and guided into each stage.
  • Encouragement for the coaches to move onto provincial and national level licenses
  • When readied and trained the Coaches move onto an 11 v 11 team.
  • The process repeats, training and continued education.
